I knew you. 00:25:47:16 - 00:25:48:13 Chorus Could. 00:25:48:15 - 00:25:50:09 Chloe Fiona Think you're related. 00:25:50:11 - 00:26:09:22 Shaniqua You played it for sure. So I got started with Chloe. As a Gen Z, what was your experience like participating in generational jeopardy? Having a chance to meet with, Ted, our baby boomer participant, playing against, er, the Gen Xer and even Victoria millennial. 00:26:09:23 - 00:26:31:08 Chloe Fiona I thought that it was a fun, well-rounded experience. I like meeting new people. And so I think it was, like, really fun experiencing everyone's energy is in the space. They're all very different, including myself. But I think that, like, helps, like, you know, I don't know, sharing a community within a space that, like, has different energies and like creating a collective. 00:26:31:08 - 00:26:37:08 Chloe Fiona So I feel like a collective was formed here and I just enjoyed the energy. And I fed off of it a lot. 00:26:37:10 - 00:26:38:07 Chorus So. 00:26:38:09 - 00:26:40:11 Stephanie And you fed it a lot. Yeah. 00:26:40:12 - 00:26:41:10 Chorus I love that. 00:26:41:12 - 00:26:44:10 Chloe Fiona So yeah, it was a fun community based activity. 00:26:44:12 - 00:26:46:12 Chorus What about you, Victoria? 00:26:46:14 - 00:27:16:15 Victoria I, I just really enjoyed getting out of my comfort zone in, like, so many ways, one being on a podcast to playing jeopardy, where, you know, it's not it's not a game. I've watched growing up like I've heard about it and and also like, I just love, as you said, like getting to meet new people. And I think adding the general generational aspect, like Ted or you, we'd probably like not crossed paths so easily in our day to day just because of like the where we live and the realms we work in. 00:27:16:15 - 00:27:21:05 Victoria So I always like that kind of forcing function. 00:27:21:07 - 00:27:31:12 Stephanie I'm curious for each of you, did either one of you and you can each answer it like learned something that you didn't know or something that surprised you about another generation? 00:27:31:12 - 00:27:42:19 Chloe Fiona Oh yeah. When we were going through the corporate terms, I have never been in a corporate field or like when the hiring process is done or like the what was it called? Where's the whether. 00:27:42:21 - 00:27:43:13 Chorus There's one. 00:27:43:13 - 00:27:44:03 Shaniqua Other. 00:27:44:05 - 00:28:03:20 Chloe Fiona Yeah. Never never experiences terms never really experience like that in an environment. And so it was just really cool to like I don't know I kind of like learned about like what all those terms were a little bit, and I feel like I do engage in that in my field of work, but also just not not as much. 00:28:03:22 - 00:28:18:00 Chloe Fiona So yeah, that was pretty cool. Also, it's like, I feel like my generation, I remember faces, I don't know if it's a me thing, but I remember faces, but I don't remember names. Someone like we were doing the people section. I was like, oh yeah, I know who this are on TV, don't name. 00:28:18:02 - 00:28:20:17 Chorus I yeah, I. 00:28:20:18 - 00:28:22:19 Chloe Fiona So yeah. 00:28:22:21 - 00:28:24:02 Shaniqua Face identifier. 00:28:24:02 - 00:28:26:09 Chloe Fiona Face identifier. 00:28:26:11 - 00:28:27:00 Chorus Names. 00:28:27:00 - 00:28:27:18 Chloe Fiona Now. 00:28:27:19 - 00:28:30:09 Shaniqua What about you Victoria? What do you think would you learn? 00:28:30:14 - 00:29:02:21 Victoria I think for me, well, like, I've known this, being like, bi- national, like the. I mentioned it before, like the culture aspect of, like, there's stuff that's very like US-based and having grown up in, like, in the US with a French household, there's like things that I are like blind spots just because of, like when I was born and where I was raised in, like, for example, the, the challenger, incident, like, those are things that have marked the history of the US, but same thing like the civil rights. 00:29:02:21 - 00:29:24:07 Victoria And so I think there's like what I liked about it was like the remembering of things that mark the American culture and for me, have probably started at like 911, because that's when I was a kid. But there's been things before that influence, like people that we meet in our day to day, and also influence like politics today, and decisions. 00:29:24:07 - 00:29:28:10 Victoria So I think that's a place where I'd be curious to kind of go explore a bit more. 00:29:28:15 - 00:29:30:08 Stephanie Oh, you got the Vietnam answer then? 00:29:30:08 - 00:29:30:17 Chorus Yeah. 00:29:30:17 - 00:29:33:04 Victoria Yeah. Well, my grandfather. 00:29:33:06 - 00:29:36:13 Chorus Was in that war, so, it's. 00:29:36:15 - 00:29:38:01 Victoria A it's a, it's a war that. 00:29:38:03 - 00:29:46:05 Stephanie Crosses over and that really emphasizes what you're saying, though. It's like it was a part of our history and your history. So that crossover is really interesting. 00:29:46:05 - 00:29:46:18 Chorus Yeah. 00:29:46:20 - 00:30:03:05 Shaniqua Like, what do you find is like a commonality, like if you had two maybe like three commonalities, that you like, found, between like generations that you may have not seen before today. 00:30:04:05 - 00:30:34:22 Victoria Commonalities, I think. I don't know if it's like, also the people that are here, but I'd say that there's always, like, this desire to connect. There's a, like the curiosity of, like, learning more or learning about a new person. And then I think everyone was also really humble, and just being humble to like, know what you know, because it's the road you work, you like function in or what you're used to talking about. 00:30:34:22 - 00:30:40:03 Victoria And then there's the other stuff that can complete that picture. 00:30:40:05 - 00:30:41:04 Chorus Yeah, yeah. 00:30:41:06 - 00:30:42:07 Shaniqua What about you, Chloe? 00:30:42:13 - 00:31:04:16 Chloe Fiona Yeah, I feel like this found I learned a lot more. And, like, I didn't know the answers to a lot of the questions, but also, I learned at the same time. And I don't know that I don't think that's necessarily, like, just a generational thing. I think that's just also an aspect of, like, me and my engagement in how I live my life and my day to day world. 00:31:04:18 - 00:31:25:00 Chloe Fiona But also it's important to like, acknowledge to those things that were topics of discussion, like frickin like what civil rights. Like hello, let's win that. Because yeah, I was like, I don't know. But it's like, that's something like that's important to always emphasize and remember. And I just I didn't. Yeah. Well. 00:31:25:00 - 00:31:30:06 Shaniqua Like, what did you feel that you found like you had in common with maybe, 00:31:30:08 - 00:31:31:16 Chorus You. 00:31:31:18 - 00:31:40:03 Shaniqua Connected with Ed from Gen-X, with Victoria from millennials. Like, did you find any commonalities with them or other generations? 00:31:41:02 - 00:32:10:21 Chloe Fiona I think commonality is I don't I'm a I'm a human that values are all different. But I think commonality is experience wise. Everyone kind of like has experience the same thing. Like we all experience life pretty much like similarly, it's just based around like how we grew up individually. And so yeah, there were things that Ed knew that were from my generation that I didn't know. 00:32:10:23 - 00:32:13:05 Chorus Like the thumbs up. 00:32:13:07 - 00:32:17:19 Chloe Fiona I never use a thumbs up. I'm always a laughing emoji. Or like the two pink hearts. 00:32:17:21 - 00:32:19:07 Chorus That's my that's my. 00:32:19:07 - 00:32:21:23 Chloe Fiona Go to, So, yeah. 00:32:22:01 - 00:32:40:06 Stephanie But I'm like, that's because the older generations were always going out and looking up and going, how are they using emojis to talk? Because we don't want to offend somebody or yeah, like I don't want to like send an emoji thing and like be like hitting on someone and not realize it because I put fruit out there like I. 00:32:40:08 - 00:32:41:17 Stephanie Like I just like peaches. I don't. 00:32:41:17 - 00:32:46:02 Chorus Know, I don't know. Oh, oh my gosh. 00:32:46:04 - 00:32:48:19 Shaniqua The three droplets, like I just really thought they were juicy this. 00:32:48:19 - 00:32:50:10 Chorus Season I know. Yeah. 00:32:50:12 - 00:33:01:12 Stephanie So in some ways we might be learning more about it in the context or actively like seeking it out, you know? Or like what does it mean? You know? And for you, it's just sort of the snapshot like you're like, I don't even use that. You know, it's like, not. 00:33:01:12 - 00:33:04:10 Chorus Even on my radar. 00:33:04:12 - 00:33:24:04 Chloe Fiona Like the music section, they're from all different generations, but like, I knew more so of, like what was going on at that. And so I like music a lot. I think it's just all our own individualities and like we were discussing earlier, like, it's like everyone wants to blame each generation, but it's not necessarily the generation itself. 00:33:24:06 - 00:33:37:17 Chloe Fiona Which is why I kind of like to put, intergenerational trauma as, like one of the options for, like, the questions that like, really tied in after the first, jeopardy thing. So I appreciate that you guys did that. 00:33:37:19 - 00:33:38:02 Chorus So. 00:33:38:04 - 00:33:38:18 Chloe Fiona Knowledgeable. 00:33:38:23 - 00:33:46:06 Victoria I wanted to add something because, like, talking to you just briefly, one thing that I didn't notice, though, it was in the use of words between. 00:33:46:08 - 00:33:48:00 Chorus Well, 00:33:48:02 - 00:34:16:08 Victoria Ted, who was a baby boomer, was you use a lot of words around, like, mental health, energy, all these like, I'm going to say psychological principles, like you were telling me about your thesis. And I think, like, that's a part that I recognize in in the next generation, because I think, like, as a millennial, we're we're the generation that has started to go to therapy and like done some self introspection work, which was not seen was taboo beforehand. 00:34:16:10 - 00:34:32:03 Victoria And so that's, I would say a commonality that I had a completely different discussion with Ted and was probably not a topic we would touch upon, like right from the get go maybe. Yeah. You know. Yeah. So yeah, there's definitely there's more openness to like, oh, how do we connect as humans? And yeah. 00:34:32:05 - 00:34:58:10 Stephanie I think also and this is just a perspective of, yeah, it's like I think women in general, even in older generations, began to go to therapy long before men could even say the word because they were just so conditioned and we're not even allowed to. And what it meant to a man generationally in a Boomer era, even for Gen X to acknowledge a mental health issue was extremely stigmatizing. 00:34:58:10 - 00:35:28:10 Stephanie Whereas women, we had a little bit more flex because we were seen as emotional. And so therefore there was. Yeah. And you know, good, bad or indifferent. We went to therapy, right. We started to heal ourselves. And what I see in the younger generations, for me, that I find is so compelling and hope and, and hopeful inspiring is, is that men and women are both looking at mental health, that it is a more unified conversation and that that trickles upwards. 00:35:28:13 - 00:35:45:21 Stephanie And I think that that's something we talk a lot about, what trickles down. But this is something very, very important and powerful that is trickling upwards. And we are seeing, you know, like when we see somebody like Simone Biles, you know, step out of an Olympic position for her mental health and be there to support her team. 00:35:45:23 - 00:36:07:10 Stephanie And there were a lot of like older generation people that really call that out and didn't understand it because it went so against what they were conditioned and taught. But now we see her showing back up like just on top of the world, and we see the benefit of making that choice. And she's teaching all of us by, you know, and I'm just picking on that because, you know, the Olympics are coming up. 00:36:07:10 - 00:36:15:01 Stephanie Oh yeah. And lI freakin love Simone, right. Like but in general, I think that that's something that's really important. You know, what's happening in the younger generations. Yeah. 00:36:15:03 - 00:36:34:05 Chloe Fiona And women I like that you brought up, man, because there's this book that I've been reading. I don't remember the full name, but it's by Bell Hooks, and I hundred percent recommend it. It's recently came out, before she died. And so it's called How to Change, man. And then, like, forgot, there. 00:36:34:05 - 00:36:35:02 Stephanie Will literally be. 00:36:35:02 - 00:36:36:05 Victoria Is it the will to change? 00:36:36:05 - 00:36:36:22 Chorus Yeah. 00:36:37:00 - 00:37:00:04 Chloe Fiona Yeah. The Will to Change Men. And it's a really good book. And it talks about how we all have. And we've had this discussion too, in our walks where it's like, we all have masculine and feminine energies. And so the book talks about like men engaging more in like the their feminine energies and like their emotional emotions and just like experiencing expression and why they don't. 00:37:00:06 - 00:37:06:08 Chloe Fiona Yeah. Based upon society and how is the society we can help foster and nurture men expressing emotions more? 00:37:06:11 - 00:37:08:20 Stephanie It's really important. Yeah, it's really critical. 00:37:08:22 - 00:37:09:17 Chorus Yeah. 00:37:09:19 - 00:37:35:13 Stephanie First of all, this has been fantastic. And y'all's participation has been amazing. Everybody's participation in this has been amazing. And I guess if we can just go and do a quick wrap on takeaways from your whole experience, not not just the show itself, but just from the whole experience, you've got like one key thing that you're going to take away from you, or maybe you're going to go research or something that just got you very curious, like, what would that be? 00:37:35:15 - 00:37:37:04 Stephanie I think we'll start with our winner. 00:37:37:09 - 00:37:42:16 Chorus Oh, pressure. Okay. 00:37:42:18 - 00:37:44:12 Victoria Key takeaway. 00:37:44:14 - 00:37:45:05 Chorus I think this is going. 00:37:45:05 - 00:38:04:20 Victoria To be more personal. But definitely the to take away is like trusting myself, because, yeah, I think it was like, this was there was a lot of newness, and I think it was it was just being in this moment was really incredible. 00:38:04:20 - 00:38:05:22 Chorus Yeah. 00:38:06:00 - 00:38:29:21 Victoria And getting to meet just new people and, and meet you too, in person. So, yeah, I think that's the end. Like, trusting, like what I know and what I don't know. Because there were just, as you said, like there's some categories where because of our interest or something in our life we know more of and others, it's just like you don't, and it's okay. 00:38:29:23 - 00:38:37:07 Victoria But definitely. Yeah, I will look more into the history of the US, even though I did study it in high school. But there's some more things too. 00:38:37:07 - 00:38:38:04 Shaniqua You can always brush. 00:38:38:04 - 00:38:39:04 Chorus Up on it. Yeah, yeah. 00:38:39:08 - 00:38:40:23 Victoria I need to brush up. 00:38:41:01 - 00:38:43:09 Chorus What about you, Chloe? 00:38:43:11 - 00:39:04:19 Chloe Fiona I think I think I mentioned a little earlier some takeaways from today, but I think something really important is, like, before I came into this space with Ed, I came in and I saw him and a part of me who was, like, really nervous to engage. I don't know why I when I see an older white male, I'm like, like. 00:39:04:19 - 00:39:24:06 Chloe Fiona And so I made the initial step to, like, introduce myself and talk to him and get to know him about his life, where he's from, his work, his job, and I don't think I would ever usually walk up to a Gen Xer or even a Boomer and just like, randomly talk about their life, especially like a male, a woman. 00:39:24:06 - 00:39:43:09 Chloe Fiona Yeah. But, that was something that felt really nice to do and like, get to know somebody on like, a personal level right before a show to where, like, you're going to be like, head on and like, create like a human to human connection. And I feel like that's something that should be done a lot more, especially like in the dance world where you're going into like, what's it? 00:39:43:14 - 00:39:51:23 Chloe Fiona I don't even know. It's called. Where are you going to, a room. And like, you're trying to get, like, a part in, like, a show or something. We don't like an audition. Audition? Thank you. 00:39:51:23 - 00:39:54:03 Chorus I don't know why I it it's okay, it's okay. But like. 00:39:54:03 - 00:40:11:21 Chloe Fiona In an audition, it's like. It's like, this is my space. Stay away from me. Don't talk to me. And so it felt less of that here in the space. And so as a dancer, I tend to go into things with that mindset of like, I am here and I'm direct. And so in this case, it was more like as a collective. 00:40:11:21 - 00:40:18:00 Chloe Fiona And it felt really nice that I was able to make that initiative on my own. And yeah. 00:40:18:02 - 00:40:19:04 Chorus So I think. 00:40:19:04 - 00:40:47:01 Shaniqua That's wonderful. To end with my takeaway, I, I feel that there's opportunity for intergenerational relationships and it looks like from what you guys have exhibited, that you also want intergenerational relationships. So I'm happy to see that, it was really nice to see everyone interacting. What you just said, Chloe, about connecting with Ed before. 00:40:47:02 - 00:41:02:04 Shaniqua Yeah. Going out of your comfort zone, I think we all can do that. Maybe charging ourselves individually to be the change that we want to see in our generations. And it's been really nice to see you and Ted just chatting it up. After. 00:41:02:04 - 00:41:05:13 Victoria We almost grab lunch. Had it not to come back. 00:41:05:14 - 00:41:20:19 Shaniqua That is so awesome. I love hearing that. And I think that we're, We are challenging what is being said about the divisiveness in generations, because we're proving with this show that there's more inclusion, then divide, then division. So thank y'all. 00:41:20:21 - 00:41:25:09 Stephanie My key takeaway is I want to throw more across generational parties. Period. Okay. 00:41:29:04 - 00:41:30:15 Stephanie That's that I just I just. 00:41:30:16 - 00:41:31:16 Victoria You know, fun. I feel. 00:41:31:16 - 00:41:34:11 Stephanie Like if we are more intentional. 00:41:34:13 - 00:41:35:09 Chorus About. 00:41:35:10 - 00:41:52:06 Stephanie Seeking out these relationships and being just weren't consciously open about the people that are around us. And, you know, this has been, for me, a great experience. I've enjoyed meeting, you know, both of your loved I of course, I know, but I love meeting Ted as well. 00:41:52:06 - 00:41:55:17 Chorus I just have met. 00:41:55:19 - 00:42:09:06 Stephanie So. Yeah, this is my my my takeaway is just more of this. Let's really, we just need more of that connection and and that everybody express that need for connection, period. 00:42:09:08 - 00:42:09:16 Chorus Yeah. 00:42:09:18 - 00:42:19:23 Stephanie Just, you know, I think just in general, not just with other generations, but probably even with themselves, you know, like we get so pulled apart. So this was joyful for me. 00:42:20:00 - 00:42:21:21 Chorus I think so. To. 00:42:21:22 - 00:42:44:11 Shaniqua To our audience, I encourage you to challenge your, your own views across, the generations, about, like, taking a look inward at how you, resonate with your individual generation and how you interact with other generations.
